Melike Taşcıoğlu Vaughan is a designer, artist and academic with a doctorate in graphic design. She studied graphic design at Anadolu University Faculty of Fine Arts and San Diego State University School of Art, Design and Art History. She completed her master’s at Anadolu University, and a Proficiency in Arts degree at Köln University and Anadolu University, The Institute of Social Sciences. Ms Vaughan lives in Eskişehir, Turkey, where she teaches Bachelor, Masters and Doctorate degree courses as a full-time Professor at Anadolu University. Some of the courses she teaches are Book Design, Introduction to Graphic Design, Graphic Design Theory and Research, Graphic Design Storytelling, Corporate Identity Design and Environmental Graphic Design. Ms Vaughan has written two books, “Bir Görsel İletişim Platformu Olarak Kitap (The Book as a Visual Communication Platform)” focusing on book design and “Bir Görsel İletişim Platformu Olarak Mekan (The Space as a Visual Communication Platform)” on environmental graphic design.
She has been a speaker in many international conferences, and she has written many articles, papers and book chapters for graphic design education books. She has been teaching workshops internationally on drawing and book design.
She is also a book designer, mainly working with international independent publishers focusing on issues of social injustice. Ms Vaughan is an executive board member and treasurer of the International Council of Design (ICoD) 2022-2024 and board member and secretary general of the Turkish Graphic Designers Association (GMK) since 2019.
