Sakku was born from the collaboration of Annabel Bonnard and Clémentine Mechri. Two different paths, textile design and product design for one, product design and a social experience abroad for the other, who met on the benches of the school of art and design of Saint Étienne. Very early, they develop projects in common while keeping their own universes. Pictorial approach and drawings for one; and the experiment of materials and the manufacturing processes for the other. They have in common the will to highlight the plasticity of objects through the research of materials and patterns.

Sakku is a line of knives forged with a blacksmith of the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes. By associating our knowledge, we created this series of knives through two directions: an omnivore line and vegetarian line. So, we realized a boning knife, a knife with net, a potato peeler and two ulus, one omnivore and the other vegetarian.
To distinguish these two lines, we decided to use blacksmith’s graters as raw material. By forging them, we were able to keep the present pattern on this one, indicating with which line they register. The pattern scales represent the omnivore’s line, and the linear pattern represents the vegetarian’s line.
These patterns are a signaling system. This exchange of knowledge allowed us to develop the techniques of forge of the craftsman while enriching our designer’s practice.
