2015 - New Star Award
Saint-Etienne, France
Le Liboux Romain has a technical degree in product design and cabinet making as well as a master degree and he is currently undergoing the post-diploma in design research at ESADSE (Higher School of Art and Design of Saint-Etienne). His sensitivity concerns urbanity whether it is from an artistic point of view or an environmental one. Problems such as global warming, sustainable development and more specifically the safeguard of biodiversity are at the heart of his works.
Biotope 1.0 is a first step in regards to the allocation of space to nature in towns by changing the status of the wild-urban botanical species. This change will be operated by their integration in the urban landscape and by the knowledge of their diversity and their attributes: the revegetation of urban areas is a simple but effective way to fight air pollution, against certain modifications of the urban microclimate and against global warming.
